Behind the Scenes - Mixed Media Journal

Mixed Media has so many techniques! Lots of products are layered one over the other to get depth and a unique product each time. Here are some photos I have taken while creating the Mixed Media Journal. Had so much fun experimenting and combining various materials, styles and techniques.

Starting with a base - Some white paint, some scrapbook papers.. Getting the textures started.

Having fun with colors, and inks - I love to mix paints with paper, and other media. Added material gives depth and layers to collage art.

Inking, and stamping time.. I like the interest inks and stamps create, instead of using paints as the only medium.

Building on my colors and layers - the possibilities are endless here, but patience is the key!

Smear the paint around until you are happy with the result to get some more depth of color.

Stenciling, and more textures! As dirty as this looks..

..The end result is beautiful!

The "collage" effect seems to be coming together at this stage! I have left areas thin to make sure the papers show through. It kind of gives this translucent effect, that I so love!

More acrylic paints, inks, and stamps to get a richer background, and more colors flowing!

Thinking of going with an inspirational title for this journal.. Something that everyone can resonate with!

..Now to the finishing touches!

..And voila! Here's the finished project.

So much fun in the many layers!
